Earn academic credit for co-op placement

At Saint Mary’s University’s Sobey School of Business, co-op isn’t just work experience. It can now count toward your degree.

Bachelor of Commerce students can earn academic credit for co-op placements. Eligible students receive three credit hours per work term, for up to nine total credits across three placements, all while gaining paid, hands-on experience.

Co-op lets you alternate between classes and full-time work, helping you build your résumé, grow your network and explore career paths before you graduate. You’ll set goals at the start of each placement and reflect on what you’ve learned, with support from faculty and the co-op office.

The program still includes career coaching, résumé and interview support, and personalized job matching. Placements are available across Canada and internationally, in fields like accounting, finance, marketing, tech and more.

If you’re applying to a Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) degree program, you don’t need to do anything yet. You’ll be contacted in your first year with information about your co-op options and how to get started.
